If you've been following our story, you know it’s been a winding road trying to turn our dream into something real. Back in the spring, we shared an update about a moment at The Snug—overhearing folks talk about how Irvington could really use more cozy, community-centered spaces with food, drinks, and music. That chance moment gave us a boost of energy just when we needed it. But even then, things were still slow-moving.

We were spending time at our favorite Irvington watering hole, The Snug, when we overheard a table of people talking about how Irvington needs more spaces for people to meet and just hang out with food and drinks. One person at the table mentioned that they had taken a survey about a potential cafe with live music and wondered what ever happened with that?

It’s been 8 days since I hit the publish button on our survey and started sharing the link around community boards and our social network. We set a goal of 50 responses in the first 30 days, which honestly felt like a bit of a stretch. So imagine our surprise when we had over 100 responses in the first 24 hours, and over 250 responses in the first 48. Mind=blown. We got so many responses that we went over our monthly limit with our survey provider so it’s currently down until next month.

You see, we are in the earliest stages of trying to transition a dream into a reality. We have this wild idea of opening a local business that is a mashup of all the things we love most about life. Imagine a local market specializing in high-quality local produce that you can afford, a tea shop, a growing space for a permaculture garden & greenhouse, and an after-hours cozy lounge with live jazz. In a perfect world, it’s so close you can even walk or bike there.
